Bountisphere SMS Opt-In Process for 2FA

Introduction to 2FA and Messaging Consent

Bountisphere uses SMS-based Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to enhance the security of user accounts. As part of this process, users must explicitly opt in to receive text messages containing verification codes to ensure secure access to their accounts.

Opt-In Process

  1. Initial Message: When a user signs up for Bountisphere or updates their security settings, they are sent a text message prompting them to opt-in to SMS verification.

    Example of the message:

    “Reply YES to subscribe to Bountisphere’s 2FA security verification codes and secure your account.”

  2. User Consent: Upon receiving this message, users can reply “YES” to confirm their consent to receive 2FA verification codes via SMS.

  3. Confirmation: Once the user replies with "YES," we record their consent in our system, including:

    • The user’s phone number.
    • The timestamp of their response.
    • The exact message sent and received.

Opt-Out Process

At any time, users can opt-out of receiving verification messages by replying “STOP” to any message sent by Bountisphere. Upon opting out, users will no longer receive SMS 2FA codes, and this action is recorded in our system.

Example of Opt-In and Opt-Out Flow

  1. User receives:
    “Reply YES to subscribe to Bountisphere’s 2FA security verification codes and secure your account.”

  2. User replies:
    YES

  3. System logs:

    • Phone number: +1-234-567-8901
    • Timestamp: September 10, 2024, 11:30 AM
    • User's response: YES

  4. Opt-Out:
    Users can reply STOP to unsubscribe.

Bountisphere takes data security seriously. All consent records are securely stored in our database, and users' personal information is protected in compliance with our Privacy Policy.

We do not share phone numbers with any third-party services except for those used to facilitate 2FA, such as Twilio, and only for the purpose of account security.
